Remarkable resemblances are seen in the teaching and practice of the Buddha and the Christ on understanding the human person as anatta and denial of the self, in rejecting priesthood and sacrifices along with purity system, their laws, institutions and custodians. Both the sages agree in re-defining power as the ability to control oneself and exercise of power as voluntary service and sacrifice for other. The Buddha and the Christ concur in their warning against greed and accumulation of wealth and the cell to radically share resource with those in need and be open to hospitality from anyone, demolishing purity laws of their times.
