World Studies of Churches in Mission General Editor: Victor E.W. Hayward This series of Church studies is sponsored by the Division of world Mission and Evangelism of the World Council of Churches, Geneva. The subject of inquiry in each of the studies proposed is the inter-relatedness of the local Church and the community which surrounds it. The heart of the study is sociological analysis. But the direct objective is a deeper understanding of the way in which a Church grows by creative response to the pressures which impinge upon it.
